This is a place where ideas can live and breathe for a bit. Some will wither and die but others might take root and turn into something else. You could say blossom and bloom but lets not be too aspirational with a plant metaphor. Maybe spore and disperse is a better description. Like bacteria, mould, fungus, mushrooms…
A brief note on the title – “Tig’M”. It had to be short. Something that belongs to me but doesn’t use my name. Something that refers to ideas or understanding but without implying it has answers. And somewhere that’s a hub or a home for keeping all these things. In Irish there are some ‘tig’ related terms:
Tig = Come
Tig le = Is able
Tig/Tigh = House (or public house)
Tuigim = I understand
And then there’s playing tig, as in:
“Eileen had long white hands. One evening when playing tig she had put her hands over his eyes : long and white and thin and cold and soft.”
(Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, James Joyce, 1927)
So, Tig’M is a home for playing with ideas and understanding – phonetically speaking, with apologies to Foclóirists everywhere.
(And just to be clear, it has nothing to do with the Texas Institute for Genomic Medicine or The Imperial Gorella Movement, although both are fascinating…)
Starting a blog is one thing. Writing a blog..? well, now that’s a different kettle of fish. So all I have to do is to put the two kettles of fish side by side and compare the differences…
